Tracy Chapman -Talkin' Bout A Revolution (Live and Acoustic 1988)
Don't you know
They're talkin'about a
Revolution
It sounds like a whisper
Don't you know
They're talkin'about a
Revolution
It sounds like a whisper
While they're standing in the welfare lines
Crying at the doorsteps of those armies of salvation
Wasting time in the unemployment lines
Sitting around waiting for a promotion
Don't you know
They're talkin'about a
Revolution
It sounds like a whisper
Poor people gonna rise up
And get their share
Poor people gonna rise up
And take what's theirs
Don’t you know
You better run, run, run, run, run, run, run, run, run
Oh said you better run, run, run, run, run, run, run, run, run
Cause finally the tables are starting to turn
Talkin'about a revolution
Yes finally the tables are starting to turn
Talkin'bout a revolution
Oh no
Talkin'bout a revolution
Oh no
While they're standing in the welfare lines
Crying at the doorsteps of those armies of salvation
Wasting time in the unemployment lines
Sitting around waiting for a promotion
Don't you know
They're talkin'about a
Revolution
It sounds like a whisper
Yes finally the tables are starting to turn
Talkin'bout a revolution
Oh no
Yes finally the tables are starting to turn
Talkin'bout a revolution
Oh no
Talkin'bout a revolution
Oh no
I like and I choose this song, because I really like what she is protesting about, the revolution. She says poor people rebelled and will take what belongs. She showed us that anyone could connect with the big public talking about the necessity of change. I think she also wanted to reflect the feminine point of view. It's a relaxing song to listen and I like her voice, she had power singing the song and she felt all the words. It's a topic that seems a little current, but it is of 1988. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f0TdGGpOpVE
